Copper Recycling

Copper is one of the most desired metals in the scrap metal recycling industry, many would even say copper is the new gold. Constant demand keeps prices favorable creating a good opportunity for legitimate recyclers to earn a fair amount of cash when recycling scrap copper.

Scrap recyclable copper can be from many sources and prices can vary based on the quality of the material and current market value. Copper pipe or tubing and insulated copper wire are some of the most popular recycled items.

The most common copper categories are #1 and #2 copper.

• #1 copper is clean without any other metal or material attached and typically has the most value to recycling companies.
• #2 copper may include other materials still attached to the copper such as solder, metal fittings, paint or anything that could contaminate the metal.
